Recent project success

My latest editing project was something a little different. Yes, it was a book, and yes, it was in the crime/mystery genre, but this book was aimed at children.

It had specific criteria.

First, it had been submitted to an agent and the feedback was to reduce the "wordiness" of the text.

Second, it was aimed at children in the 5-7 age category (hence, the vocabulary and plot needed to be suitable).

The editing side of things was fairly straightforward, however, I had to find a way of estimating the age range that it was originally written for, and the age range that it reached after editing. I located an online "Readability Test" which analysed each chapter before and after alterations, and managed to reduce the age ranges from 10-14 years to 7-10 years which fitted with the author's expectations.

The feedback I received was very positive, as you can see below.
